Vacation House in Potia
Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh
Completion: 2011
Project Type: Residential
Area: 5,750 Sq ft
This residential project, designed for a family based in the D.O.H.S neighborhood in Mirpur, Dhaka, occupies a prominent site at the intersection of the main road network and beside the community’s central lake. Its strategic location informs the core design intent: to create an architectural object that is both visually engaging from the outside and offers compelling views outward toward its surroundings.
The site’s orientation and spatial forces shape the internal organization of the home, influencing how spaces unfold, connect, and respond to light, movement, and landscape. This internal layering allows the residence to engage dynamically with the lake, roads, and neighboring properties while maintaining privacy and comfort for the family.
Situated among taller buildings, the project aims to distinguish itself as a sculptural presence. Its bold three-dimensional form acts as a visual anchor within the urban fabric, introducing a refined yet expressive focal point in the residential context.
